The Case of the Vanishing Subscriber

This isn’t a missing persons case. It is a fiction short, sadly.
I know they are still alive and well enjoying the goodies sent to them over the past four months. In fact they were our first VIP and shared some amazing feedback. There is no ill, and I never expected a gilded path free of bramble on this journey through publication. Still, the sting of the words “cancelled membership” lingers.
A familiar fiend enters the chat with a sad knowing string of false promises.
“Its so comfortable here darling, with me, in the dark. Sink into me and forget about those silly little aspirations always flitting out of reach.”
Well we all know that guy is a liar and is just looking to fuel up on misery. No goal is easily attained. I won’t wake up in shape from day dreaming about it. I actually have to stop eating every sweet treat that somehow find their way to my proximity. I won’t become a best seller by simply pretending I’m being interviewed. I won’t build a successful business by playing dress up and yapping about it (no matter how much I love to talk).
